Phoenix Suns

Arizona's Family became the media partner of the Phoenix Suns in 2023, broadcasting regular season games over the air on 3TV and AZFS. My role in the partnership includes leading post-game coverage within newscasts, producing live shows from the floor of the Footprint Center, and following storylines for daily coverage within newscasts and The Extra Point. This includes writing, shooting, and/or editing stories; creating visual graphics; and overseeing production.

Growing up in Holbrook, Arizona, Mike Budenholzer listened to Phoenix Suns basketball games on the radio. A passion for the game led to a career in coaching, winning four NBA Championships as an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs. As a head coach, Budenholzer has twice been named Coach of the Year with the Atlanta Hawks (2015) and Milwaukee Bucks (2018) and led Milwaukee to a win in the 2021 NBA Finals - over the Phoenix Suns. In 2024, Coach Bud takes over the team he grew up cheering, something he never imagined possible as a kid.

Remembering Al McCoy
Produced and edited by Matt Hippe
For more than half a century, Al McCoy called Phoenix Suns basketball games for radio and television broadcasts. Even as his role in the booth declined, Al remained one of the Suns biggest supporters and a beloved face of the franchise. Just weeks after announcing Mike Budenholzer as the new head coach of the Suns in June 2024, Al passed away at the age of 94. Budenholzer, a native of Holbrook, Arizona, grew up listening to Al call Suns games on the radio. He and star player Devin Booker talk about the impact McCoy made on their personal lives and the entire Suns organization.
